RT-A1200 – H3R 2.5 LB. Red Halon Fire Extinguisher
Available now on the Airparts.aero Marketplace.
Overview
The H3R Aviation RT-A1200 is a premium, 2.5 lb. rechargeable, hand-held fire extinguisher, the industry standard for cabin and cockpit fire protection in a wide range of aircraft. This unit is charged with Halon 1211, a liquefied gas agent that provides exceptional effectiveness against Class B (flammable liquid) and Class C (electrical) fires. As a "clean agent," Halon 1211 rapidly extinguishes fires without causing thermal shock to sensitive equipment and leaves behind no powder or oily residue, which is critical for maintaining visibility and system function in a confined cockpit. The RT-A1200 is a robust, reliable, and indispensable piece of life-saving equipment for any aircraft.
Key Features
- Halon 1211 Clean Agent: Utilizes Bromochlorodifluoromethane (Halon 1211), a liquefied, gas-type extinguishing agent that chemically interrupts the combustion chain reaction. It is non-conductive, non-corrosive, and requires no cleanup after discharge.
- Effective Multi-Class Performance: Carries a UL rating of 5B:C, signifying high effectiveness against fires involving flammable liquids (gasoline, oil, hydraulic fluid) and energized electrical equipment (avionics, wiring). It is also effective on Class A (common combustible) fires.
- High-Quality Construction: Features a heavy-duty, rechargeable steel cylinder with a corrosion-resistant finish, coupled with a robust, all-metal valve assembly for proven durability and reliability.
- Integrated Pressure Gauge: Equipped with a color-coded pressure gauge that provides an instant, at-a-glance verification of the extinguisher's readiness and charge state, a critical pre-flight inspection item.
- Compact & Efficient Design: The 2.5 lb. size provides a perfect balance of potent firefighting capability and a compact, lightweight form factor suitable for mounting in a cockpit or cabin without obstructing occupants.

Applications
The RT-A1200 is a primary piece of emergency equipment for combating in-flight fires:
- Cockpit & Cabin Safety: Provides the flight crew and passengers with an immediate means of suppressing an incipient fire within the occupied spaces of the aircraft.
- Electrical Fire Suppression: Its non-conductive Halon 1211 agent is ideal for extinguishing fires in avionics, instrument panels, or electrical wiring without causing further damage from short-circuiting.
- Engine Fire on the Ground: Can be used to fight a small engine fire during startup or immediately after shutdown on the ramp.
Why Choose RT-A1200?
An in-flight fire is one of the most time-critical and dangerous emergencies in aviation. The H3R RT-A1200, charged with Halon 1211, is the proven, specified solution for cockpit and cabin applications. Unlike dry chemical extinguishers which create a massive cloud of vision-obscuring powder and can ruin avionics, Halon is a clean gas that allows the pilot to maintain visibility and control of the aircraft. For a life-saving piece of equipment, there is no substitute for the proven performance and reliability of an H3R Aviation Halon extinguisher.

The Halon 1211 agent in the RT-A1200 extinguisher is stored as a liquefied, compressed gas. When discharged, it exits the nozzle as a liquid stream, allowing the operator to precisely aim it at the base of the fire from a safe distance. Upon contact with the fire, the liquid rapidly vaporizes, creating a heavy gas cloud that displaces oxygen. More importantly, the Halon actively suppresses the fire on a chemical level. The bromine and chlorine atoms in the Halon molecule act as free-radical scavengers, breaking the chain reaction of combustion itself. This chemical suppression mechanism is highly efficient, allowing a small amount of agent to extinguish a fire very quickly, which is essential in a time-critical, enclosed environment like a cockpit.
Note: This is a pressurized safety device. It must be inspected regularly in accordance with the manufacturer's instructions and applicable regulations (e.g., 14 CFR § 91.205). The pressure gauge must be in the green arc, and the unit must be within its specified hydrostatic test and service life dates. Mounting brackets must be of an approved type that can withstand crash loads.
