What is a Garter Filter Element background?
The function of the air filter element is to remove dust contained in the intake air so as to supply clean air to the engine, and protect the moving parts in the engine from wear. Air filter elements clogged with dirt will reduce the flow of air through the air pump resulting in increased air pump operating temperatures that cause higher air pump wear rates resulting in early air
pump failure. Dirty filters also affect regulator function and can cause low vacuum/pressure gage
indications.
